Im Mai fand die Google I/O 2018 statt. Unsere Kollegen von Resolution US waren vor Ort und haben die wichtigsten Trends in Sachen Technik, AI und Search zusammen getragen:
The annual Google I/O conference, which brings together developers from all over the globe to explore the next generation of technology, kicked off this week in Mountain View, California. It’s apparent that digital is becoming seamlessly integrated into every facet of our daily lives and that the tech giant believes artificial intelligence (AI) will reign at the center along with voice, visual and digital well-being.
Google is focusing on accessibility along with adaptive and predictive technology to integrate AI into real-world opportunities to enrich experiences — from the mundane everyday tasks such as booking hair appointments to the futuristic opportunities such as self-driving vehicles.
Google is scaling the growth of AI by using the technology to solve real-world problems around the globe. Health care, for example, is poised to see the most impact from the advancement and adoption of AI in medical devices such as equipment with eye scan technology and devices to help doctors predict medical events.
Within the last two decades, speech technology has become ubiquitous with seamless integration into our lives — and now voice has evolved to become more personal and naturally conversational. Voice adoption is entering phase two in which Google no longer needs to scale the purchase of voice assistants. Now, Google’s focus is ensuring that the devices understand social dynamics to integrate more easily within people’s lives.
Consumers can look forward to continued conversation without prompting with voice assistants, multiple actions in google assistant to process multiple requests, smart displays with Google assistant ability, the ability to make calls and book appointments, and food pickup and delivery.
Google has a focus on making visual communication more integrated and intelligent. This includes the practical nature of how people engage through this channel — building communities within their network — whether that be through taking pictures, texting, or finding out where to go.
Improvements to the mobile cameras on Android devices, Google Maps, and Google Lens will allow these devices and apps to recognize and understand user requests and respond more efficiently and accurately in real time.
Moving away from the buzz of “FOMO” (fear of missing out), Google is championing the movement towards “JOMO” (joy of missing out). Although digital is important, finding a balance between the digital and real worlds is becoming more and more important. Google has recognized this and is offering up practical solutions by understanding consumer habits and focusing on what matters to them to insert technology where it is helpful rather than excessive.
Overall, the way consumers behave have expectedly evolved, and Google has stayed true to its mission: “To organize the world’s information and make it universally accessible and useful.” As the technology powering up AI, Voice, and Visual advances, we see google continue to strive to be the glue between consumers and the brands, tasks, and connections that define their lives.
